Specialists

Our comprehensive whole school Specialists Program provides all Prep to Grade 6 students with opportunities to explore interests, develop new skills and broaden their learning beyond the classroom. Aligned with the Victorian Curriculum 2.0, students participate in engaging, 1 hour sessions each week developing creativity, confidence, collaboration, physical wellbeing and cultural understanding.

Our STEM program explicitly develops students’ scientific understanding, critical thinking, creativity and problem-solving skills. Through hands-on investigations, design challenges and collaborative learning, students explore how things work, test ideas and develop solutions to real-world problems.

Prep – Year 2

Students explore STEM through hands-on activities that encourage curiosity, creativity and problem-solving. They investigate how things work, explore materials and simple systems, recognise patterns and develop early design and computational thinking skills. Students ask questions, experiment with ideas and create solutions to simple challenges.

Years 3 - 6

Students build their STEM knowledge and skills through investigations, design challenges and collaborative projects. They apply scientific understanding, mathematical reasoning, engineering design and computational thinking to solve problems, test ideas and refine solutions. Students develop their ability to think critically, work collaboratively and evaluate the effectiveness of their designs.

Our Arts program provides students with engaging opportunities to explore, create and express themselves. Through visual and performing arts, students develop their skills, experiment with ideas and communicate their thinking, creativity and perspectives in a range of ways.

Even Years – Dance Focus

Students develop their creativity, confidence and teamwork as they work towards our whole school concert at the Frankston Arts Centre. They also explore a range of artistic techniques in Visual Arts and develop their musical skills through singing, playing instruments, composition and performance

Odd Years – Visual Arts Focus

Students explore their creativity through Visual Arts, creating and displaying artwork at our biennial Art Show, held as part of our whole-school Fiesta. They continue to develop their musical skills through instrumental learning and performances at assemblies, and participate in a dance program with STOMP Dance Company, culminating in a mini-concert.

Our Social and Emotional Wellbeing program explicitly teaches students to build positive relationships, recognise and regulate emotions, develop empathy, communicate effectively and navigate challenges. Through co-operative learning and Respectful Relationships, students develop self-awareness, personal boundaries, problem-solving skills and respect for others.

Prep – Year 2

Students develop the social and emotional skills needed to build positive relationships, understand their feelings and feel a sense of belonging. They learn to recognise and name emotions, practise strategies to regulate their feelings, share and take turns, cooperate with others and solve simple problems. Through Respectful Relationships learning, students explore kindness, empathy, respect and personal boundaries.

Years 3 - 6

Students strengthen their ability to build positive, inclusive relationships and navigate increasingly complex social situations. They develop self-awareness, emotional regulation, empathy, communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills. Through Respectful Relationships learning, students explore respectful interactions, personal boundaries, inclusion and responsible decision making, building the confidence to manage challenges and contribute positively to their school and wider community.

Through learning Spanish, students develop communication skills, cultural understanding, confidence, and curiosity, supporting them to become responsible, resilient, and socially connected individuals. All students participate in weekly LOTE lessons and experience a vibrant language environment. Every second year, our whole school celebrates Spanish language and culture through our Mercado Fiesta, featuring student-led market stalls, performances, and cultural activities that bring our community together.

Prep – Year 2

Students develop an introduction to Spanish through greetings, colours, numbers, simple words and everyday phrases. They practise listening and speaking, learn to recognise familiar Spanish words and explore cultural traditions, celebrations and customs in Spanish-speaking communities.

Years 3 - 6

Students extend their Spanish language skills through listening, speaking, reading and writing. They develop vocabulary, pronunciation and simple grammar to communicate information, share ideas and participate in conversations. Students deepen their understanding of Spanish-speaking cultures and can use the Education Perfect Languages platform to practise and extend their learning.

Our Physical Education (P.E) program supports students to develop the skills, knowledge and confidence to lead healthy, active lives. Through fun, engaging and inclusive experiences, students build fundamental movement skills, physical fitness, teamwork and sportsmanship. We encourage students to challenge themselves, work collaboratively, demonstrate fair play and develop a positive attitude towards physical activity, fostering lifelong participation in sport and movement.

Prep – Grade 2

Students develop fundamental movement skills such as: balancing, running, hopping, skipping, galloping, leaping, throwing, catching, striking and kicking. This is done through a variety of activity stations and modified games.

Years 3 – 6

Students continue to develop fundamental movement skills and apply them in game situations through modified games and traditional major sports. Students develop their awareness of time and space along with knowledge of game strategies.

Sport

In addition to weekly Physical education lessons, our sport program provides students with opportunities to develop physical skills, teamwork, confidence, resilience and sportsmanship through regular local participation and competition.
