CSPS Instructional Model

Our approach to teaching is informed by evidence-based best practice, the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model 2.0 (VTLM 2.0), and the individual needs of our students. Guided by high expectations, strong relationships, inclusion, engagement and student agency, we work consistently as a whole school to create safe, stimulating and supportive learning environments for all our students.

In every classroom, you will see:

  • An orderly and predictable learning environment where clear routines, expectations and positive relationships support students to feel safe, settled and ready to learn.
  • Teachers modelling and thinking aloud, making the thinking and processes behind new learning visible.
  • Students actively engaged in learning, with teachers regularly checking understanding and responding to student needs.
  • Purposeful practice and review that helps students build confidence, fluency and mastery.
  • Support and challenge for every learner, with teaching adjusted to meet students at their point of need.
  • Opportunities to think deeply and apply learning, through discussion, problem solving, exploration, creativity and making connections.
