At Cranbourne South Primary School, inclusion is everybody’s responsibility. We believe every student deserves to be known, valued, supported and challenged, and we are committed to a school community where all children, families and staff feel they belong. Inclusion means celebrating difference, building genuine connections, and making the adjustments needed for every student to participate and succeed alongside their peers.
Disability Inclusion is the Victorian Government’s approach to supporting students with disability in government schools. Cranbourne South Primary School has moved to this model, which helps us better understand the strengths and needs of our students and plan the support and adjustments that help them thrive.
It is a collaborative, strengths-based process involving classroom teachers, our Inclusion Team, families and, where relevant, allied health and other external professionals. It can also help our school access funding for additional staff, equipment, training and specialist support.
Where we think a student may benefit from a Disability Inclusion Profile, we will contact families to talk this through together. The profile helps us understand what a student can do well and what support they need, so we can plan for their learning and participation across six areas of everyday school life.
At CSPS, adjustments are made at a whole-school, classroom and individual level so that every student can access and take part in school life. These may include visual supports, modified tasks, additional adult support, sensory tools, assistive technology, extra processing time or access to a calm space. Adjustments are reviewed regularly and are always guided by what each student needs to learn and belong.
If you would like to know more about inclusion at CSPS, please speak with your child’s classroom teacher or a member of our Inclusion Team.
